I share my story to redefine what it means to look like a politician, not just for myself, but for all women. I know when I let my light shine, others will be encouraged to let their light shine too. - Cierra Jackson.

In April 2019, I was selected to serve as the Ambassador for She Should Run, a nonprofit that encourages and trains women to run for office.
I want to see even more women run for political office and win. As a Spelman College & Women’s Campaign School at Yale University graduate (which are both women's colleges), I recognize the value of women leading in our world. Women are courageous, strong, intelligent and powerful beyond belief; and, I want to be a part of the team that helps them realize that. Understanding the courageous mission of She Should Run to train 250K women to run for elected office by 2030, I am galvanized to offer my skills and talents, as a She Should Run ambassador, to accomplish this mission. Running Start Ambassador
You probably already know that I’m very involved with politics, but you probably didn’t know in 2018 - I teamed up with Running Start to raise funds for young women who aspire to run for political office.
In 2015, Running Start provided me the opportunity to work as a fellow for a female member of Congress, political mentorship, leadership training, DC housing free-of-charge, and a stipend for my work. Running Start helped provide many of the connections and experiences I needed to land an internship as the only communications to serve the Chief of Staff office during the Obama's Administration. Grateful for the opportunity to be apart of the Running Start family, at the beginning of 2018, I pledged the first 10 days of the New Year to raising over $1K for Running Start. In about 10 days, I was able to raise over $1.2 K to prepare women who aspire to run for office. This led to me being selected as one of the seven finalist to present a competitive speech at the 12th Annual Young Women to Watch Awards on March 14th, 2018. With the votes from the attendees during the awards, I was elected the #ILOOKLIKEAPOLITICIAN ambassador and served for a year. In that time I was able to train hundreds of young women all over the nation and even nationally in Iceland. In a room full of opportunity, I was inspired not only by my fellow finalists, but by the limitless possibilities presented when all people — regardless of gender, ethnicity, or economic background — join together for equality." - Cierra Jackson |
